Wednesday was one of the longest days of my life. The surgery lasted 8 hours. Thankfully, the hospital called my dad every two hours to tell him how things were going. Mom lost a lot of blood but they were successful in removing the tumor. We weren't able to see her until about 6:00 that evening. Her face and eyes were pretty swollen and the incision goes from the top of her head to just below her left ear. It was so hard to see her in that condition. I just wanted to bawl the first time I saw her. The next few days were rough. She threw up the whole night after the surgery and most of the next day. The day after her surgery they tried to get her up to move around a little bit and she passed out. Our time was spent sitting by her bedside, holding her hand and telling her that we loved her and that she was the strongest person we know. They gave her six units of blood during the surgery and had to give her two more yesterday because her blood count was still low. The pathology report showed that the tumor was definitely benign! We were sooooo relieved and so grateful to hear that. My dad was able to take her home this afernoon. She is still really weak but I think it will be good for her to be home. She will get more rest there than in the hospital. Now we are just praying for a good and speedy recovery.
This has been quite the experience for our whole family. It makes you put life into perspective and realize what really is important. As a family, we were talking about some of the reasons that we needed to go through this experience and one of the reasons that we talked about was so that Heavenly Father could show us that He is here, that He is aware of us, and that He loves us. I have felt Him reaching out to us during these last two weeks. I have seen it through others' kind words and actions and felt it through the comforting reassurance that comes through the Holy Ghost. My testimony of fasting and prayers has been strengthened and I am so grateful that Heavenly Father is allowing us to keep our mom a little longer. Thanks to all of you for your love and concern for our mom and for our family. We love you all!

I'm so glad that your Mom is home and recovering. When I saw my Dad after his open heart surgery, I nearly passed out. It is really hard to see your parents go through these things. I jsut noticed you are in your third trimester now! I hope you have A/C so you can be comfortable this summer!
I didn't notice Ryan was logged in, sorry!
I'm so glad she's at home now, there's something wonderfaul and healing where you belong. Take care and we'll hope she recooperates fast!
So glad to hear your mom is home and recovery. She will remain in our prayers.

I am so glad the surgery went well and you and your Mom are both home safe. Thank you so much for the bread and sweet card :)
Thank you so much for posting the update. I had read it a couple days ago but didn't have time to jot down a comment. You are one tough cookie! I am glad that your families prayers were answered!
