Andrew and I really struggle at going on dates. We know we should, and we have every intention of doing it, but something always gets in the way - can't find a sitter, someone gets sick, we would rather veg at home, budgetary constraints, can't decide what to do, etc. So last Sunday we were discussing our need to go out and we came up with a fun idea. We brainstormed a long list of all of the things we would like to do on a date, typed them up on the computer, cut them out and put them in a "date jar". Every Sunday one of us chooses out of the jar and that will be our date for the week.We decided to choose at the beginning of the week so that we have several days to make arrangements for sitters, get tickets to an event, etc. We also decided that our date didn't have to be on the weekend. It could be anytime during the week, depending on what we could work out. We even put a breakfast date in the jar. On our list we put free stuff, cheap stuff, and indulgent stuff like massages. To get a lot of our ideas we opened up the phone book to the community resources page. We also listed a bunch of restaurants we've been wanting to try. For free dates we put everything from test drive hummers to game night to going for a walk in the park.
I am happy to report that this Friday we have a sitter and we are going to a new little place we read about in the paper called "Stan's Char-broiled Hot Dogs". If anyone wants a copy of our date list, especially those of you who live nearby, let me know and I will email it to you. Happy Dating!

Oh Amber, what a great idea. I would love a copy of your date list!! Thanks for sharing.
Fun Idea! We tend to get stuck in a rut on our dates, so changeing it up sounds great. I'd love a copy! Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you offered, cause I was going to ask for your list.
I would love a copy.....
Sara- Can I get your email address?
Amber, how are you? I love your idea and would also like a copy of your list. Michael and I love free date nights at Barnes and Noble, we both sit with a book or magazine and I get a hot chocolate to enjoy for as long as we can until it's time to go home and feed babies!
That is a great idea. Rick and I were commenting that we don't have date night near enough. I'm really bad, because I just love being home. I joke with my husband that by the times the kids are older and we have a chance to date, we won't even know each other.
Kasey's list would consist of one activity!
