Observations

It is interesting to move out of state for a while and then come back to a place that was once so familiar. This may seem strange, but those who have experienced it can probably relate to the fact that moving back to Utah can feel a little frightening. It is hard to explain why, but there is a certain culture, especially among members of the church, that you don't experience as intensely outside of Utah. Let's just say that in Utah, mormon trends spread like wildfire and mormon groupies can be a little intimidating. It's not to say that the "culture" doesn't exist in other places it is just intensified here. I'm not saying this to make Utahns feel bad, I am a Utahn for crying out loud! It has just been really intersting to observe. I must also say that my experience has been a very pleasant one so far. Here are some other Utah observations:

1. The mountains are amazingly beautiful!
2. Dr.'s offices look like craft stores. It is crazy all the vinyl lettering and wooden shelves with plants and such on them.
3. Costco= Suburbans, Wal-Mart= Minivans
4. Utahns are very friendly. I always get smiles and hellos when I go out shopping.
5. Utahns are not very friendly drivers. Why don't they ever let me merge or change lanes?
6. Utah is definitely family friendly. There is always something to keep me and my kiddos entertained.
7. Utahns don't pronounce their 't's. I'm still working on that one myself!
8. I LOVE Utah!!

Thanks to everyone who has made this a smooth transition for me.

You would think for a bunch of Mormons we would be the most polite when it comes to driving, but Utahn's are by far the worst. Even I am know for my moments of road rage and muttering under my breath (so the kids don't hear). I am excited to be a part of the mormon culture outside of Utah again. I am sure it will be interesting and different.

You hit it on the head...there is a cultural phenomenon in Utah. I saw it in all 3 of our Utah locations (Logan, SLC, Am. Fork.) I know exactly what you're talking about,(a bit bothersome/annoying if you ask me,) but nonetheless a wonderful place to be. I'm glad you're settling in.

Amber - that is hilarious! I have had quite some adjusting to do for those exact reasons.

I didn't even realize that I don't say my t's until you said that. I am special.

My husband wants us to move outside of Utah so I can see Mormon life outside of here. I have never lived outside of Utah but he has and he says life is so much different. Your post made me laugh. Now that you are here, I think we should have a get together, especially before Shaun-ta' moves!
