"Parents need to take a stand for all that is honest, virtuous, and praiseworthy. It is the responsibility of heads of families to support wholesome influences for their children in government, schools, in the home, in the neighborhoods, in stores, in local theaters. Parents have responsibility to see that freedom is preserved for their children, and that the present generation does not burden future generations with debt and wasteful extravagence." -Ezra Taft Benson (CR April 1978)This quote, along with some family members, and a constant irritation with what is happening at the White House, is what inspired me to take action and become a citizen lobbyist. I have started going to the Utah Capitol once a week to help a conservative group in their efforts to promote conservative ideals and values. It has been an awesome experience to see the process of how a bill becomes a law and to know what bills are trying to be passed. I have realized that I can't really preserve the freedom of my children if I don't know how it is being threatened. I think the most important thing I have learned is that one voice can make a difference. God bless America and Heaven help us in preserving our freedoms and the futures of our children!
