Everyone says to cherish these moments with the kids young and at home because they go by so fast. I wish I was better at journaling because I know I will forget so many of the cute things they say and do. Some day I might even want to laugh at the things that aren't so funny right now. At the begining of the year I had high hopes. I was finally feeling settled in my house, the basement was finished, Preschool plans were made, I had a daily schedule and a weekly cleaning schedule and I was going to be so organized and on top of things and make time for things like journaling and exercising and then . . . I got called to be Relief Society President of our brand new ward! Just when you think you've got everything under control!
It has been a very humbling experience. No one ever expects or really wishes to be called as RS Pres. but I know the Lord has a lot to teach me through this calling. It was a really sweet experience being called. The first week after being sustained, our new bishopric (I didn't know any of them) called in a bunch of families to get to know them. We were one of the families. It was really quick. They mainly asked about Andrew's job and how we met but not really anything about me personally. After that I was a little relieved because I thought to myself, "I won't get a big calling because they don't even really know me." Boy was I wrong! The next day I got a call to go back to the bishop's office and I knew I was in trouble. When the bishop extended the call, I knew that it came from the Lord. The spirit is an amazing thing. When you recieve that kind of call, you definitely need that affirmation or you would say no and take off running!! I know that the Lord knows me personally. My testimony of that fact was strengthened ten fold through this experience. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father knows what we need even if it scares us to death. I know that he will sustain me through this calling and qualify me for the work I have been called to do.
Once I get all of the callings filled and visiting teaching organized (Uhg!) I hope to get back to my schedules and be better at blogging/journaling. Until then I have to keep reminding myself that blogging and dishes and laundry can wait -at least until we are out of clean ones!
